We offer a variety of student programs for undergraduates in the fields of engineering, business and finance to name a few. These challenging work assignments are designed to complement your academic studies and reflect your career ambitions. Each program culminates in a project presentation, describing the results achieved. Upon completion, you’ll receive a performance assessment, measuring your success in achieving the project’s objectives. Find out about our programs…

Internships

Students who want to work either part-time or full-time year-round and who meet our hiring criteria can participate in the Alcatel-Lucent Internship Program. Interns receive project-focused assignments and challenging objectives consistent with their career goals and education level. On arrival, interns are orientated in the Alcatel-Lucent family and the individual work group to which they will contribute. Development opportunities may include meetings with corporate executives, educational workshops, business-unit information exchanges and networking events.

To participate in Alcatel-Lucent's Internships, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Academic Performance. You'll need to enjoy good standing within your academic institution.
  • Country Citizenship. You must have the right to work within the country of application. Citizen, permanent or conditional permanent resident, temporary resident, asylum seekers or refugee are all acceptable options for admittance.
  • Student Status. Full-time students will be considered from any four-year or five-year accredited college or university. Students must be enrolled to return as a full-time student following the internship.

Cooperative education program (where available)

Alcatel-Lucent's Cooperative Education Program integrates classroom studies with paid, productive work experience related to a student's academic and career goals. We work in partnership with educational institutions to provide students with the experience necessary for professional growth while they make positive contributions to their designated team.

Students work within teams for full-time assignments over one semester learning skills necessary for career development. They may be eligible to receive both financial compensation and academic credit for work and may also be eligible for full-time employment. The Alcatel-Lucent team manager, as required by the school, will evaluate the intern's work and provide insight into performance expectations.

Apprenticeship

At Alcatel-Lucent, we encourage professional experience for young people through Apprenticeships. As an apprentice, you pursue your studies and get experience at the same time. This also gives students the chance to immerse themselves in the diverse Alcatel-Lucent culture.

In France, where Alcatel-Lucent has signed the "Apprenticeship Charter" (sponsored by the Institut de l'entreprise), apprenticeships have proven to be a profitable experience for both students and the company. In 2007, Alcatel-Lucent hired 317 apprentices, who worked throughout France, with business units suited to the apprentice's qualifications.

Research Partner Program

Alcatel-Lucent facilitates Research & Development assignments and exchanges to promote closer relationships and accomplish visible solutions. We create a global Research Partnership Program to reinforce innovation efforts and sharpen our competitive edge, which in turn promotes close long-term relationships with key universities and research institutes.

Complementing and strengthening the company's existing cooperation with numerous higher-education and research centers, the Research Partner Program is a key asset in the company's search for future employees. In turn, our partners have privileged access to the company's worldwide research community, in which their findings reach a wider audience and their image is enhanced.

The research program also enables Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs to build wider partnerships, provide a setting for information exchange and pursue ways to identify and explore future trends in technology with a small number of world-class research partners. The Research Partner Program is unique in offering real collaboration opportunities between enterprise universities or research institutes and has proven to be beneficial for all involved.

"Flexible Radio" Teaching and Research Chair (in France)
