Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
As a good corporate citizen, Alcatel-Lucent recognizes the company's social and environmental responsibilities. We have signed the UN Global Compact (the world's largest voluntary corporate responsibility initiative) and are committed to respecting its 10 principles. The company also acknowledges the vital role that the telecommunications sector has to play in addressing environmental issues such as climate change.
We have strengthened our commitment to CSR through a wide range of initiatives:
- Ethics & Compliance: Only by upholding the highest levels of business ethics and personal integrity can we achieve and sustain business excellence.
- Social Innovation: We try to create a global workplace for our employees that fosters continuous learning. We encourage international and functional mobility and work continuously to ensure our diversity.
- Environment: We are committed to embedding eco-sustainability in our relationships with our various stakeholders. We constantly work to reduce the environmental impact of our products and operations and develop eco-friendly and energy-efficient technologies that meet our customers' needs.
E-sustainability is addressed throughout our supply chain.
You could be one of our CSR champions
Our CSR Champions Award program encourages employee commitment and recognizes exceptional contributions to CSR in various areas. Last year, an independent jury selected eight Champions. Each CSR Champion received a US$10,000 or €7,320 grant for a non-profit organization of the team's choice.

The Alcatel-Lucent Foundation
The Alcatel-Lucent Foundation supports numerous projects and initiatives to enhance the communities in which our employees and customers live and work. Here are some examples:
- Employee Volunteer Program
We sponsor international Days of Caring, which support and encourage volunteer activities performed by teams of employees. Last summer, over 10,000 employees participated, supporting almost 160 projects in 15 countries. - Partnership with the International Youth Foundation (IYF)
Alcatel-Lucent has completed a three year program with the IYF to improve educational quality for young people in 14 countries, by developing curricula, training teachers, providing technology and helping students in daily life. Alcatel-Lucent is supporting children whose schools were destroyed in the 2008 earthquake in China's Sichuan province. - Partnership with The Resource Foundation
This partnership aims to provide funding for educational programs for almost 3,000 disadvantaged South American girls and young women. - "Cercle Passeport Télécoms"
Alcatel-Lucent is also a founder and France's largest supporter of the "Cercle Passeport Télécoms" program, which helps underprivileged students succeed in their studies and get into top French Universities.More about "Cercle Passeport Télécoms"
