Supplier occupational EHS

As described in its Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Policy, Alcatel-Lucent is committed to operating in a manner that protects the environment and the health and safety of employees, contractors, customers and the communities where the company operates. In addition, Alcatel-Lucent is committed to relying on contractors that meet the standards of its EHS Manual, which sets the basic EHS requirements in all services performed for customers. Alcatel-Lucent relies on a network of EHS competencies from across the company organization, thus enabling the monitoring of internal and external practices, that can be adequately performed with a stronger focus on activities with a higher EHS risk.

EHS Management Systems

All contractual documents managing the relationship of Alcatel-Lucent with its suppliers/ contractors include a specific clause on Environment, Health and Safety management. This clause varies depending on the contractor's activity and requires suppliers to have EHS management systems implemented. In particular, contractors providing field services, such as equipment installation, are contractually required to abide by the EHS Manual of Alcatel-Lucent.

Monitoring Process

The effective compliance of suppliers/ contractors with EHS requirements is checked through the CR assessments and quality audits, requiring clear evidence of the management systems in place for both environment, health and safety, and on the scope addressed by these management systems. Dedicated on-site audits may be conducted to address the entire scope of Alcatel-Lucent Corporate Social Responsibility requirements including EHS practices. The audit teams include an EHS specialist to be as accurate as possible in the evaluations and to be able to provide guidance on how to improve EHS practices.
