Test objectives:
To evaluate the ability of the Alcatel-Lucent 100GigE Service Routing interfaces to sustain line rate forwarding while supporting tens of thousands of unique L3 IP/MPLS BGP VPNs, L2 VPLS and Virtual Leased Line (VLL) services.
Focused on the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router (SR) with 100GigE IMMs and Ixia K2 100GigE test interfaces and IxNetwork test application for Customer-edge (CE-PE) and Provider-edge (PE-PE) emulation of customized traffic flows to exercise provisioned hierarchical QoS across all connections.
Emulation of real-life service provider scenario with 200 PE nodes each establishing LDP, BGP and OSPF sessions with the 7750 SR under test, with 32,000 emulated services comprising of L3 IP-VPNs, L2 VPLS and VLL.
Key findings:
The test results successfully validate that the 7750 SR 100GigE IMM implementation provides not only a high-speed trunk, but also offers flexibility and service capabilities for high capacity business, residential and mobile services support while maintaining high-touch service level agreement (SLAs) and offering quality of service.
The Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR with 100GigE interfaces very comfortably supported a highly scaled mix of L2 and L3 business services. The verification of 32,000 mixed business services with hundreds of thousands of QoS resources applied while achieving line-rate performance on a single 100GigE IMM is impressive.
Isocore confirms that the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR passed all the tests and all systems were stable under considerable stress through numerous iterations and test cycles.
The stability and performance of the system under test confirms the readiness of the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR 100GigE technology for deployment throughout service provider networks.
