• Bart Shigemura — Vice President, Alcatel-Lucent Ventures

  Bart Shigemura is Vice President, Alcatel-Lucent Ventures, a strategic investment group within Bell Labs. In this role, Bart is responsible for leading a team that fosters an open innovation model by identifying joint ventures and strategic external investments. He also manages an internal incubator of portfolio ventures that enable the company to enter profitable new markets with agility.

  Prior to joining Alcatel-Lucent Bart held CEO positions at several entrepreneurial companies, including Yotta Yotta and Alidian Networks, a layer 2 grooming and aggregation platform in the metro optical market. As Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Lucent Technologies, Bart led marketing and for all data products. Bart was a founding member of Yurie Systems, where he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and was a member of the Board of Directors, helping to take Yurie public in 1997. Before joining Yurie, Bart was Vice President of Marketing and Services for Premisys Communications, joining that organization prior to their IPO. Earlier in his career, Bart held executive sales and marketing positions at Nortel Networks, General DataComm and IBM.

• Sudhir (Sid) Ahuja — Alcatel-Lucent Ventures Joint Ventures Vice President

  Sudhir (Sid) Ahuja is Alcatel-Lucent Ventures Joint Ventures Vice President. In this role, Sid is leading a team to leverage Bell Labs innovations and technology in vertical markets. With a focus on the Health Care sector, Sid seeks to bring innovation to market fast by partnering with industry players.

  With a wealth of experience gained over a 25 year career within Bell Labs, Sid has contributed to scientific programs and led numerous research projects. Most recently, he has lead research in new services that merge capabilities of different network types. He is recognized a leading authority in multimedia communications, including; voice recognition, text to speech, speaker verification, face animation human computer interaction, video/music on demand and groupware. He has also been active in lab to market projects, bringing innovations to commercialization.

  Sid holds seventeen patents, with six patents pending on multimedia services. He has published numerous papers and been asked to speak at numerous IEEE and other trade conferences. He has also achieved the top honor of Bell Labs Fellow.

  Sid received his PhD and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from Rice University in Houston, Texas. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India.
