Istanbul, October 20, 2009 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE:
ALU) today designated its Istanbul training center as an official location of
Alcatel-Lucent University, one of 20 independently accredited learning centers
around the globe.
With the mission of making learning a competitive advantage, Alcatel-Lucent
University enables customers, partners and employees to achieve their strategic
business objectives. Alcatel-Lucent University’s mission is to create a culture
of innovation, providing learning interventions to initiate, drive and support
change necessary for competing in today’s evolving markets.
Initially opened in 1986 as a satellite training facility, with this
announcement the Turkish location has transitioned to a fully accredited global
learning center within Alcatel-Lucent University. “Following an aggressive
one-year development plan, this new Alcatel-Lucent University training center
has succeeded in becoming a recognized and contributing member of our Corporate
University. The team has done an excellent job and is prepared to deliver
customer and employee learning focused on enhancing proficiency and
performance,” said Audrey White, head of Alcatel-Lucent University.
As the second Alcatel-Lucent University to achieve accreditation in the CIS
(Commonwealth of Independent States), Central and Southern European region,
Alcatel-Lucent University–Istanbul relocated in August to its new and modern
facility. The learning center provides training on a wide variety of products
and solutions supporting end-user services: voice, data and video transmission
services over fixed or mobile platforms. This access to training and expertise
will benefit major Alcatel-Lucent customers in the region such as Turk Telekom
group. Students at the Alcate-Lucent University-Istanbul center will better
understand and maximize the functionality of Alcatel-Lucent products, solutions
and services through consultative, innovative and cost-effective learning
solutions.
In addition to the customer benefit, the knowledge center is also an asset
to Alcatel-Lucent employees by enabling them to enhance productivity and
achieve their professional development objectives with multimedia learning
solutions in the areas of leadership, functional, technical and product
training.
Locally, Alcatel-Lucent has aligned with leading local educational
institutions, including Sabanci University, Istanbul Technical University,
Bahcesehir University and Istanbul University to broaden employee professional
development and skills development.
“Leveraging the benefits of local resources, trainers at the Istanbul center
have the necessary expertise to satisfy customer needs,” said Pinar Temizkan,
HR Director of Alcatel-Lucent in Turkey. “Both customers and employees also
gain from the global reach of Alcatel-Lucent since our accredited learning
center benefits from being part of the full Alcatel-Lucent University
network.”
