Paris, November 9, 2009 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and
NYSE: ALU) and Thales today announced that they have been selected by Beijing
MTR Corporation to provide a turnkey signalling solution for the Daxing line
metro project. The new trunk metro line is expected to be operational by the
end of 2010 and follows the successful recent implementation of the Beijing
metro Line 4. Alcatel-Lucent, through Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, its Chinese
flagship company, and Thales are part of a consortium that also comprises
Beijing Hua-Tie Information Technology Development CO. (HT).
The 22 km-long Daxing line will include 11 stations and will connect Daxing
district in south suburban Beijing with downtown through to the Beijing metro
line 4. It will help to ease the traffic load while providing the inhabitants
with a faster, safer and more convenient travelling experience.
Under the contract, Alcatel-Lucent will be responsible for network
integration service, as well as consulting, design, and engineering services.
Thales will provide its industry-leading SelTrac Communications-Based Train
Control (CBTC) system.
