Alcatel-Lucent selected by JGC to build an integrated communication and security system network for Algerian oil & gas-related facilities

Tokyo, November 11, 2009 - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) announced today that it has been selected by JGC Corporation (JGC), the global-leading engineering and construction company from Japan, to work with them to build a fully integrated communication and security system network as a part of a major oil & gas project in Algeria.

The new communications system allows transmit data on oil and gas production, operation and safety details, while also enabling communications among the workers patrolling remote desert sites, creating a communications network for monitoring production status and securing workers safety in 24 hours/7days environment

Leveraging its strong project management and quality control capabilities, Alcatel-Lucent will design and integrate the new system, carry out multi-vendor equipment procurement and integration work prior to the shipment by its Shanghai facility as well as provide technical assistance on the commissioning and installation work on all sub-systems on site.
