Jakarta, November 13, 2009 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE:
ALU) today announced that it has been awarded the Wireline Telecom Equipment
Vendor of the Year in Indonesia at this year’s Frost & Sullivan Indonesia
Telecoms Awards.
The award recognises Alcatel-Lucent’s exemplary innovation, growth and
performance in Indonesia’s optics, wireless transmission, IP and access
infrastructure markets. Nominees were judged based upon a set of stringent
criteria including revenue and revenue growth, portfolio diversity, innovation,
major wins and key achievements in financial year 2008.
“One area of primary investments for carriers is in the transformation to
next generation networks enabling a carrier to introduce new advanced services
to consumers and enterprises. Alcatel-Lucent has been gaining a lot of traction
in this space with key wins with the major fixed-line players in the Indonesian
market,” said Jeff Teh, Senior Industry Analyst, Asia Pacific ICT Practice,
Frost & Sullivan. “Some of these wins are also significant as it represents
certain firsts in the world including an end-to-end IP mobile backhaul network
implementation as well as deploying a high capacity, fully tuneable ROADM
backbone. These implementations demonstrate the innovative capacity of
Alcatel-Lucent’s end-to-end IP networking solutions.”
Frederic Chapelard, head of Alcatel-Lucent’ activities in Indonesia, said:
“The award recognizes the strength and breadth of our wireline portfolio and
also demonstrates our customers’ trust in our innovation capacity, be it in
optics, transmission, IP or access.”
Building on its High Leverage Network and Applications Enablement strategies
and through the delivery of end-to-end solutions, Alcatel-Lucent is focusing on
minimizing the cost-per-bit of its customers transport network while optimizing
resilience and enabling new revenue streams. Alcatel-Lucent has brought to
Indonesia the first tunable optics and next generation mobile backhaul system
including Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (GPON)
and packet microwave. Furthermore, Alcatel-Lucent extended its service router
footprint in three of the leading telecom operators in Indonesia this year.
