Paris, June 23, 2008 – Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU)
today announced that Telenor Global Services (TGS), Telenor’s international
business, has selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide an IP Next Generation Network
(NGN) for their services worldwide. An all-IP network will enable TGS to
deliver advanced voice, video, data and IP services effectively in all the
countries it operates.
Telenor Global Services is providing international interconnect services to
Telenor’s 140 million mobile subscribers in Asia and Europe. They are also
providing services to other telecom operators.
The first phase of TGS’s IP transformation project involves points of
presence in Oslo, Hong Kong and Singapore and will cover the need for
international voice and mobile services in the Asia region, Gradually the
project will include new countries.

Telenor has contracted Alcatel-Lucent to design and integrate the total
multivendor network solution. Project management, installation and
commissioning are also included in the contract. Telenor will retain network
operations.
The solution purchased by Telenor is the Alcatel-Lucent NGN Class 4 /
Peering Solution, which expands Class 4 services to IP Peering, thereby
providing converged interconnect transit services for wholesale carriers. It
involves the Alcatel-Lucent 5020 Media Gateway Controller-12, the
Alcatel-Lucent 7510 Media Gateway, and the Fortinet Fortigate firewall. The
globally distributed solution includes the 5020 MGC-12 - centrally located in
Oslo, and points of presence in Singapore and Hong Kong that contain the media
gateways, firewalls, and 7710 Service Router.
Expected date of commercial operation is May 2009.
