Announcements:

July 1, 2008:

Alcatel-Lucent Ventures transfers the Alcatel-Lucent 5130 Geographic Messaging Services Platform.

March 10, 2008:

Alcatel-Lucent Ventures launches its third product in less than one year.

Current Ventures:

There are currently five active ventures, including:

Alcatel-Lucent 9900 Wireless Network Guardian

The Alcatel-Lucent 9900 Wireless Network Guardian (WNG), formerly known as Project AWARE, is an entirely new product category, that provides end-to-end visibility into how mobile data subscriptions and services translate, in real-time, into loads on every layer of the radio access data network. With this visibility, wireless operators can enhance the data and applications delivery to their subscribers by optimizing network design and simultaneously identifying anomalous wireless behaviors which, if unaddressed, could degrade network performance, impact subscriber’s experience, and potentially cause network brownouts and blackouts.

Transferred Ventures:

Alcatel-Lucent Ventures has also successfully transferred the following ventures into Alcatel-Lucent’s product portfolio:

Alcatel-Lucent 5130 Geographic Messaging Services Platform

The Alcatel-Lucent 5130 Geographic Messaging Services Platform (GMSP) is focused on creating location-driven push messaging as a new medium for marketing and consumer communication. The 5130 GMSP is built on a flexible platform model and consists of a web server, application server and database server to support its applications suite. The 5130 GMSP, with 11 patents pending, delivers a sophisticated “geofencing” capability allowing the mobile network to automatically recognize a device’s location within a targeted geographic zone. One of the current applications supported by the 5130 GSMP includes the Mobile Marketing application, focused on driving advertising, coupons, and marketing to users entering or leaving an entertainment or sports arena, specifically delivering the message whenever it is most relevant to the opted-in user. Also included is the Social Networking and Portal application focused on providing revenue-generating carrier applications supported by advertising with both free and premium location-based messaging for end-users.

Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian

The Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess 3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian (NLG), formerly known as Project Evros, is a breakthrough technology invented by Bell Labs that enables an organization’s IT to reach all the way down to the device level so that it can maintain 24/7 visibility and control over laptops – even if they’re turned off, tampered with or stolen.

Alcatel-Lucent Unlimited Mobile TV Solution

Alcatel-Lucent is your trusted partner to design, develop, deploy and operate an Unlimited Mobile TV solution adapted to your environment.

The 5580 Home Network Manager

The 5580 Home Network Manager or HNM, formerly Home IP Plug Controller or HIPP-C, is a remote management solution that solves the service-provider challenge of managing home networks. It provides advanced functionalities for device and service configuration, software download, inventory, problem detection and troubleshooting. It supports an advanced policy engine that enables automated management of a large number of home devices (mass operations). The product is aimed at addressing the operator's challenges in deploying and supporting value-added services in an increasingly complex home network environment with a rapidly increasing number of multi-PC households, the growing interest in broadband services, and the popularity of interconnected consumer electronics (digital cameras, gaming consoles, PDAs, multimedia portable players, etc.).

Software Defined Radio (SDR)

Software Defined Radio (SDR) stems from the Radio & BTS Nodes Research Project and is now a common project between Bell Labs and Wireless Business Group, addressing future releases of the Evolium Base Station product. The goal of the SDR initiative is to provide the next generation of Evolium Base Station consisting of a single reconfigurable radio platform for multiple standards (GSM, 3G, WiMAX, LTE) and multiple bands from 700 up to 3500 MHz within common multi access modules.

Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess™ 8550 Web Services Gateway

The newest addition to Alcatel-Lucent’s security strategy, the OmniAccess™ 8550 Web Services Gateway (WSG), is industry’s first network appliance that allows controlled access to sensitive information across multiple applications and the organization-wide implementation of stateful runtime access policies. Alcatel-Lucent 8550 OmniAccess™ WSG is the only solution that supports and secures automated business processes while ensuring regulatory compliance, on-demand data availability, and protection of sensitive corporate data.

ClearFill Star®

ClearFill Star® is focused on enhancing in-building cellular coverage by providing a multi-standard multi-carrier cost optimized solution. Today, cellular coverage indoors is generally spotty at best even as more people are turning to their cell phones as their primary communication method. Users are demanding universal access to new mobile applications such as email, streaming video, location based services and voice services. Bell Labs is focusing considerable research resources on improving cellular service meeting user’s expectation for universal coverage. One result of this work is the invention of a unique low-cost approach that improves indoor cellular service by converting radio coverage into a streaming application on the Internet much like VoIP or IPTV. ClearFill Star® is based on Bell Labs innovations in wireless, Ethernet, and packet technology. This in-building cellular solution uses the standard LAN cabling (Cat5), switches, routers, and network administration already installed in most office buildings, making ClearFill Star® simple and inexpensive to deploy, maintain and reconfigure.
