IP/MPLS networking has been widely and successfully deployed on Alcatel-Lucent products in many wireline, mobile and converged environments globally. With the arrival of ubiquitous mobile broadband networking, IP/MPLS solutions are being deployed to consolidate disparate transport networks, reduce operational expenses and converge all services onto a resilient and reliable infrastructure. Growing data traffic will rapidly raise the requirement for cell site uplink capacity. Cellsites will increasingly densify, increasing connectivity and meshing requirements. Also the base station devices themselves will require evolutionary transitions in the native handoff media (for example, from TDM and ATM to Ethernet to full All- IP operation). Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS products are built to scale smoothly, supporting the required access interfaces to allow the evolutionary transitions to take place and fully ready to move to high scale All-IP operation.
